Day 01: Yangon Arrival
Mingalabar! Upon arrival your dedicated guide and driver will welcome you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.

After freshening up, you will have a short city tour visiting Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda’s 70m long reclining Buddha and Shwedagon pagoda – the most prominent monument in Yangon which dominates the skyline. This evening’s highlight is a welcome dinner in Karaweik Palace, overlooking the Royal Lake and Shwedagon Tower.

Day 02: Yangon – Fly to Bagan
Today you have an early morning flight to Bagan, Myanmar’s archaeological wonderland. Start your tour to the bustling Nyang U Market in Old Bagan then explore the beautiful, gold leaf Shwezigon Pagoda and learn about Burmese Buddhist traditions. Our tour continues with a visit to Ananda Temple, stopping along the way on the Bagan plains to admire some of the surrounding temples.

In the afternoon, enjoy an exotic horse cart ride to one of the biggest temples in Bagan: Nan Paya Pagoda. The highlight of today is the panoramic sunset view from the second highest pagoda of Bagan, the ShweSandaw Pagoda.

Day 03: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan

This morning you drive to Mt Popa. Join the pilgrims as they ascend Mt. Popa and admire the statues that line the walkway. Once at the peak, you can relax and bask in the glorious views of Bagan. We then return to Bagan for a short cruise along the Irrawaddy River at sunset.

Day 04: Bagan – Pakkoku – Monywa
After breakfast you leave Bagan for Monywa, an un-spoiled small town famous as a tobacco trading centre and for its weaving shops. At Pakokku you will visit the local genuine indigenous regional open-air market with a vast array of items for sale including local snacks, fresh vegetables, ingredients, textiles and handicrafts. You will enjoy a lunch at a simple local restaurant before continuing the drive to Monywa. arriving in the late afternoon. After check in, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 05: Monywa – Mandalay
After an early morning visit to local market, you cross the Chindwin River by ferry and proceed to Po Win Daung by local open jeep. This extraordinary complex consists of 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hills and contains what is considered by archaeologists to be the richest collection of mural paintings and Buddhist statues in South-East Asia. Recently opened to foreigners, Po Win Daung with its unique, precious frescoes, some dating from the early 17th century, is a must to see for anyone with an interest in Buddhist Arts. A few hundred metres from the caves is Shwe Ba Daung, another very interesting site where monasteries and temples are carved out of narrow cliffs. After lunch, you leave Monywa for Mandalay. On the way, visit Thanboddhay Pagoda, where more than 500,000 Buddha images cover every wall and archway of this huge Buddhist temple. Also visit Bodihtataung Pagoda and the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar, which is 100m long and 27m high.
On arrival, you will check into your hotel in Mandalay.

Day 06: Mandalay – Mingun – Mandalay Hill

Known as the hub of Buddhism in Myanmar, Mandalay is a realm of stupas, monks, and monasteries. The most fascinating visit will be the time watching the monks during worship time and enjoying their daily meal.
From Mandalay Pier, you embark on a private boat upstream to visit Mingun, famed for its huge and incomplete Pahtodawgyi Pagoda and Mingun Bell, the 90 ton ringing bell. In the afternoon you will visit Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known to hold the world largest book. We then drive to Amarapura where you will have the opportunity to walk over Ubein Wooden Bridge, the longest teakwood bridge and enjoy a spectacular sunset view over the bridge.

Day 07: Mandalay – Fly to Inle Lake

Today you leave Mandalay and fly to Heho. Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar and is located 900 metres above sea level and is home to the Intha people, famous for their one legged rowing technique. Upon arrival, board a motorboat for a sightseeing tour to Phaungdawoo Pagoda, famed for its richly gilded five small Buddha images and believed to be the holiest pagoda in Inle Lake.
Our next stop is Ngaphechaung Monastery, known as “Jumping Cat Pagoda”. As you travel closer to Nam Pan Village, you will have a look at cotton and lotus weaving factories and cigar making houses. These sites will give you a true sense of traditional Intha life.

Day 08: Inle Lake – Indein – Inle Lake
This morning, visit the “5 Day Market” which is held in different villages surrounding the lake. This is a fascinating place to enjoy the spectacle of local tribes in their colourful clothing and for you to enjoy the exotic market atmosphere.
After lunch, the boat will take you to the beautiful temple of Indein, located on the hill overlooking the lake.

Day 09: Inle Lake – Heho. Fly to Yangon
Leave Inle Lake for Heho for the short flight back to Yangon. Enjoy another half day city tour visiting Sule Pagoda, which is believed to enshrine a strand of hair of the Buddha.
Our next stop is Bogyoke Market. Formerly named Scott’s Market, it is now the main tourist destination where you can find antique, Burmese handicrafts & jewellery shops, art galleries & clothing stores.
At the end of the day, enjoy a leisurely orientation walk through exotic China Town, and the British Colonial buildings, Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Inland Water Transport Building.

Day 10: Yangon departure

You are free at leisure until getting transferred to Yangon Airport for your departure flight. Safe travel home!
